Mr. Rafia has been on my case to change my previous layout, because as he said: it was ugly and boring. See for yourself:
I personally found it to be minimalist and somewhat tongue-in-cheek. But really, it was a last minute attempt to put something new up because I was getting sick of the overly cutesy previous layout.
I can’t say I managed to get a way from the cutesy vibe. But it’s definitely less girly. Not that being girly is a bad thing. But I’ve often felt constricted by my header image. I think visuals make an announcement and I was not really feeling what that announcement was at the time. You know, women and their hormones.
I understand all this mostly just affects me. But it is my blog. And if I’m not feeling something, I will change it. It may be the one thing in my life I have control over, Monsieur Javert!
I actually quite like the image itself. This was the first time I used Illustrator (although I did have to do some editing in Photoshop, because Photoshop will always be my baby), so that’s something. I don’t like how the header looks so pixelated on my laptop screen. But because I have a basic WordPress account, there’s not much I can do. I refuse to pay any more than I already am for this site. I’m considering downgrading to a free account and getting rid of the domain. But the downside to that is advertisements.
There’s no such thing as a free lunch. The first maxim of Econ that I can never forget.
Also, correlation does not imply causation.
Also, Adam Smith was dead wrong about the invisible hand!
But that’s my own extrapolation that many economists don’t seem to understand. Or disregard, rather. They know full well what the heck they are doing! God, every time I would walk past Booth, a part of me would shudder, knowing what they give birth to and unleashed upon the world.
Okay, happy thoughts.
Let’s get back to the cow with a deranged tongue of its own dreaming of a really horribly decorated chocolate cake! And also, the little clones in the background. I thought about changing the breed, but that would require too much extra work. And I’ve already spent enough time making an image for a layout for a website that only I and few others read.
But hey, it’s a nice way to ring in the new year, right? Let’s hope it makes it through January. If not, it will be like 99% of all resolutions! :)
